Description: Celestial Spirit Gate Keys are magical keys that allow Celestial Spirit Mages to summon Celestial Spirits from another dimension to Earth. Celestial Spirit Mages form contracts with these Spirits so that the users become owners of these Spirits, and use them for combats.

The Celestial Spirit Gate Keys are categorized to three different types – Gold, Silver, and Unknown. While Silver Keys are common and easily obtained, the Gold Keys are more rare and difficult to obtain. The Gold Keys represent the 12 Spirits of Zodiacs. According to Yukino, once all 12 Gold Keys have been obtained, the Celestial Spirit Mage will be able to “open the gate to changing the world”. Seeing how Lucy Heartfilia has most of the Gold Keys, it would not be long until she’ll understand what that means. There is only one unknown key in existence, which summons the Snake Charmer, Ophiuchus. Oh, how I love the majestic designs of the keys.
