Biography

Ebony the Pistol (Devil May Cry)

- Dante's Ebony Pistol by Tsunade

Dante, the protagonist of Devil May Cry series owns a pair of customised semi-automatic pistols that have easily become his trademark weapon, as he uses them constantly throughout every installment of the series. The Ebony & Ivory pistols, one black and the other white as appropriately named, are designed to fire bullets containing his demonic power in quick succession. Both guns are m1900-style handguns chambered for .45 ACP round, and have custom slides that are thickened and reinforced.

Ebony is the pistol Dante uses in his left hand. It has been built for long-distance targeting as opposed to Ivory, which focuses on fast draw times. The Ebony boasts a set of customised target sights for targets in the long range. It's two-handed trigger-guard is hooked. The grip of the pistol is made of wood, and is inlaid with a portrait of a Victorian brunette (signifying Ebony).

As Ebony is used in the left hand, the ejection port has been modified to be on the left side, so the used rounds are ejected away from Dante. The left side also features engraved text saying "For Tony Redgrave by .45 Art Warks", apparently a dedication from Nell Goldstein to Dante. On the right, the words 'Ebony & Ivory' as well a motif of piano keys are engraved in a cursive script. The motif and the name of the guns are said to be inspired by the song 'Ebony & Ivory' by Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, which references the piano keys.
