Syaoran is the son of an archaeologist who has a mysterious past before he came Clow Country with his father. He has a glass left eye and a closed up but determined personality, and one of the first people to reach him was Clow Country's Princess Sakura. Princess Sakura and Syaoran are childhood best friends and, yes, you guessed it, grew up to like each other so very much.
One night, some dark evil force made Sakura 'drift' to the ruins where Syaoran was working at and she grew great wings where her memories were imbedded in them. Syaoran discovered her then, and feathers of her wings fluttered out into different dimensions, leaving Sakura unconscious.
To save Sakura's life and to help her regain her memories, Syaoran embarked on a journey throughout the dimensions to retrieve her feathers. After paying the price of Sakura's memory of their relationship, he was granted the ability to dimension-hop by the Yuuko, Dimension Witch. Their companions include Mokona, magical animal given by Yuuko to help them travel the dimensions and whom also act as a translator, magician Fye D. Flowright, and warrior Kurogane, who taught Syaoran effective fighting with a sword along their journey together.
