Kyon Biography (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)

Kyon is our grumpy cynical narrator of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and strictly speaking, the main protaganist of the series. Despite his default bored and uncaring exterior, Kyon is a pushover who ends up being forced into following the every whim of Suzumiya Haruhi. He also finds himself the only normal human being in the dysfunctional SOS Brigade started by Haruhi.

We never find out what Kyon's real name is, only that 'Kyon' was a nickname started by his little sister that stuck. He is the 1st member that got forced into joining Haruhi's SOS Brigade. As time went by, his fellow brigade members soon revealed their true preternatural identities to him.

Kyon has an ongoing crush on the lolita-looking time traveller Asahina Mikuru, and a special friendship with the quiet alien Nagato Yuki. He views the only other guy in the Brigade, Esper Koizumi Itsuki, with suspicion. Kyon and Suzumiya Haruhi share a mutual attraction with each other, though both chose not to address this attraction. Either that, or they are both confused by the feelings brought about by the blooming Springtime of Youth.

In short, Kyon is an easily like-able character, with his nonchalant personality and harem of females around him.
