Seventeenth Angel, Tabris Biography (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

Background:

The 17th son of Adam, Tabris took on a human appearance with the name, Kaworu Nagisa. He was introduced as the Fourth Child, the replacement for Asuka Langley to be the pilot of Evangelion Unit 02. He was the last Angel with Adam’s soul and it was highly implied that Seele created his existence. He seemed to have an easy-going personality and had a very close relationship with Third Child, Shinji Ikari.

Not long after staying at Tokyo 3, he revealed his true identity by intruding Central Dogma using Unit 02. Kaworu as an angel had the ability to control any Evangelion. He also had a very powerful AT field that can block anything, cutting off any signal from outside the Dogma. He was led to believe that Adam’s soul was in Central Dogma and was surprised when he found Lilith instead.

Among all Angels, Kaworu was given free will. When he faced Unit 01 and its pilot, he asked Shinji to kill him, explaining that his very existence as an angel can trigger Third Impact. After Shinji’s long hesitation, he fulfilled his friend’s wish.
