Background:
The seventh progeny of Adam, Israfel showed himself by emerging in the ocean and engaging Evangelions Unit 01 and 02 in battle. This angel’s body structure somewhat resembles Sachiel’s without all the bones showing outside its body.
Israfel has a weak A.T field, which is why Unit 02 pilot, Asuka Langley easily cut it into two. But what’s extraordinary about this angel is its ability to become two individual angels since it has two cores and even regenerate each other. What’s more, they can only die if their cores are destroyed at the same time. Since it has weak defense, it is susceptible to nuclear bombs that incapacitated it for six days.
While Israfel is recuperating, Asuka and Unit 01 pilot, Shinji Ikari undergo rigid synchronization training. The battle plan is for them to execute a coordinated attack, synched with a 60-second musical score.
Neither Asuka nor Shinji like their couple-like set-up: eating, drinking and dancing together all day. Asuka almost give up and to be replaced by Rei Ayanami. But seeing that she and Shinji worked well together, her pride pumped up and get serious in the training.
Six days later, Israfel is back in perfect condition. Too bad, so are the Evangelion pilots. Israfel only lasted one minute before exploding.
