Background:
NERV is a special agency controlled and funded by UN, which has grown powerful enough to shrug off most of UN’s warning. Originally, a research agency, it is now a very useful defense against Angels by using its main weapons, the Evangelions.
Currently, it is under the administration of Gendo Ikari and has its main headquarters located beneath Tokyo-3. It has a central operating system called Magi that consists of three supercomputers namely, Casper, Baltazar and Melchior.
NERV often times acts on its own particularly in dealing with Angels. Since they have most knowledge about these creatures, not to mention weapons that can actually destroy them, UN let them use more than half of world’s fund. If not for the money, NERV can stand on its own.
This agency has a motto: "God's In His Heaven... All's Right With The World" and a logo showing half of a fig tree leaf. The leaf is said to be the representation of Adam and Eve’s original sin.
