Fifteenth Angel, Arael Biography (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

Background:

Arael, the fifteenth child of Adam is most probably the most angelic among the angels. It appeared on low-earth orbit that made it impossible for nuclear weapons or even Evangelions to execute an attack.

But of course, the word ‘impossible’ is not included in Evangelion Unit 02 pilot Asuka Langley. She just can’t accept the concept that she can’t do anything to destroy the angel. So she defied order and blast the thing with nuclear cannon. As expected, it didn’t work and Asuka got what she’s asking for when Arael launched a psychic attack on her. It comes in a blinding beam of light that forces her to reminisce her life’s tragedies.

The psychic attack is the only known ability of Arael. But it’s strong enough to destroy Asuka’s synchronization with her Eva, making it immobile. Left with no other means, NERV commander Gendo Ikari issued the order of using the Lance of Longinus. Eva Unit 00 pilot Rei Ayanami, pulled the lance in Lilith’s chest and hauled it to Arael.

The lance broke through the angel’s AT field and completely destroyed it. As for the spear, it remains in the range where it is irretrievable to any conventional means.
