Personality/Background:
Nagato hold onto the belief that in order to make the world a better place was to bring pain to the world. He thought by destroying the world, he could bring everyone to light of their immature doings.

Pain wanted the best for everyone, but he took a wrong turn and belief in life and end up causing grief to others instead. On his death bed, Pain finally understood what he should have done after speaking with Naruto and was moved by his words. He sacrificed his life to repay his sins and to make the world a better place. He wasn't a bad guy. He was just mistaken.
