Tokiha Mai, whose name means dance, is the title character of Mai HiMe, whose name also create the pun "My HiMe". HiMe stands for Highly Integrated Materialized Equipment, but also means 'princess' in Japanese, once again creating the pun "My Princess".
Mai is arguably the most powerful HiMe (out of the 12) with the powerful fire phoenix child Kagutsuchi (who has a sword stuck in its beak) and could fly Mai out into space.
Mai is an orphan, with only her little brother, Tokiha Takumi as her family. Takumi is often sick and needs regular medication, causing Mai to constantly worry and care for him.
Mai first found out about her HiMe powers when running away from the fight between Kuga Natsuki and Minagi Mikoto, 2 other HiMes. Each HiMe has a small red fire-like tattoo on a part of her body and Mai's happen to be on her very well-endowered chest.
Mai emerged as the last surviving HiMe in the HiMe battle royale fight.
