Flay Allster is one huge psychotic case. She used to be a normal girl, one of Kira Yamato's schoolmates at Heliopolis that got inevitably dragged into the war. Flay was beautiful, popular, vain and an extremely spoiled brat. She is the daughter of the minister of the Atlantic Federation and for some reason, her father arranged for her to have a relationship with Sai Argyle. When Heliopolis was destroyed, Flay escaped on a refugee capsule with other refugees which was picked up by the Gundam Strike piloted by Kira.
Flay hates coordinators, and shows her open disdain for them on the Archangel. She distances herself from Kira at first after learning he was a coordinator. That sucked because Kira had a crush on her.
Later on, Flay witnessed her father dying during one of the battles and the incident totally warped her mind. She joined the military and became a crew on Archangel. She broke up with Sai and seduced Kira. She kept advancing on Kira and when he rushes off to battle, she would lie on his bed naked and wish that he dies (psycho or what!). It was difficult to comprehend whether she really liked Kira but they broke up later on which was great because she gives me the jimmies.
Anyway to keep a long biography short, Flay later got seperated from the Archangel crew, got kidnapped by Rau Le Creuset, used as a tool, got shipped back to Archangel no. 2, the Dominion, and died in a crossfire. Yay.
Though unlikable, Flay Allster was one of the characters with the most character development in the series. From a bimbo to a psycho to... someone more normal. She is an example of how a war can drastically change a personality.

Her all development was so boring anyway. IS pretty girl lose her dad, becomes a racist-prostitute. Boring...
She was a racist even before her father died so dont give me that crap.
People say oh she had such a bad life, give me a break. Lacus and Athrun both lost their parents in the war but we didnt saw them becoming worthless humans beings after that, didnt we?
What i dislike about her is how she treated sai, and how she always was looking for protection(from sai even though he treated him like crap).
You would think that war would make people tougher, but not flay.i dont like ure lil biography there. flay happens to be one of my fave characters in gundam seed. screw you for stating otherwise. other than that, nice details but ure too up high in ure opinions

Those who say that Flay started to come right in the later episodes are bang on. She and Kira really did love each other, and it was great to see her Ben Kenobi act (in her birthday suit) in the last episode.

I actually dont mind psycho characters that can take care of their own at least(a couple of my favorite characters are crazy). That leaves flay out.

you have got to understand flay..i won't waste anymore of my energy typing if you want just look at my comment on lacus..flay didn't have to die..while lacus is a perfect happy princess, flay's life has been miserable driving her to be the character you hate..THINK,if she had a happy perfect life like lacus,would she be the bitch you hate..? some of you dunno real appreciation of characters' traits..

Why do ppl hate flay so much? I adore her! Yeah she was kinda bitchy at the beginning but she turned good over time! She made the show quite intresting IMO. I think her and kira were also a way cuter couple then lacus and kira. Flay is a great character. U just gotta understand her. She isnt psychotic either FYI. I wish she didnt die... Oh n i want the flay figure! Its so cute! lol

Flay is one of my favorite characters in Gundam Seed. I respect the fact that other people have different opinions of her. And i know that a large population of GS fans hate her, so what? She might be bad or something but its really funny that people waste such strong an emotion such as hat on a no-good (as they claim) character like her. Apathy would be the best if you really dislike her. Actually, i dislike most of the characters (except for Mu La Flaga and Murrue Ramius- I totally love them) as they are 'formula' characters', being either too good, blahblahblah and/or too likable. Well, its my opinion and I have the right to have one as you all have yours.

While I don't like Flay all that much, I think that she really shouldn't be hated for anything. Yes, true, she was such a slut but while she was discriminating, she didn't do any psycho-mad-crazt-manipulative actions until after seeing her father die, leaving her very traumatised. Yes, I understand that this doesn't give her any right but put yourself into her shoes! Like many of the people around her and the way/manner she was brought up, she only understood that revenge was what she soughted. And how she did that wasn't the best way ever (esp in her state of mind) but... it was the only way she could think of: make kira fight, fight, die.
p.s. On an extra note, I don't like Kira for accepting her despite KNOWING that she is his friend's fiancee

I don't really like Flay either but i don't think she should have really died. But if u really look at it she deserved it in many ways.Just cause war drives some people crazy doesn't give her the right to be like that and use people.(a little to much on the one sided side but still right on)If you really like Flay or think she is like the best you must be really fucked up in many ways!!!

I dont understand, what is so special about Flay. She dumped her fiancee, slept with Kira and hoped he would fight and fight and fight and then die. She is a twisted person who although added a twist to Gundam SEED, she was not a very interesting character.

I dislike Fllay, she was a manipulative, disgusting person that deserved to die, although she became a little more tolerable near the end of the series. I liked this review.

I think your review is a bit too personal. I'm not exactly a Flay fan either but that doesn't give me a reason to write trash about her on the web for everyone to see! Reviews are supposed to display information and are not a place for you to write your opinions. Everyone has a different look on things and you should respect that.
