The hero of the story of "Full Metal Alchemist", Edward Elric, is a legendary figure, being the youngest alchemist to receive the title of the state alchemist. Having lost his mother at a young age, Edward together with his little brother Alphonse Elric tried in vain to resurrect their mother by engaging in the forbidden human transmutation. They paid the price with Alphonse Elric losing his body, and Edward losing his right arm and left leg when transmuting Alphonse's soul in a suit of armour.
The main feature about Edward is his height. Or lack of. Call him 'small' and he'll swing you around in wrath while accusing you of calling him a "micro peanut who has to be seen through a magnifying glass", or something along that line. Edward is hot-headed and impulsive, and amazingly skilled in fighting for a very short teenager. He was given the name of "Full Metal Alchemist" by the fuhrer, a fitting name for the automail-clad alchemist.
