Never judge a person by his looks. That quote never rang more true in Alphonse Elric's case. Inside the menacing huge armour suit is trapped the soul of a young kind-hearted boy.
Alphonse ended up in the suit when he and his elder brother, Edward Elric tried unsuccessfully to transmute their dead mother. Now, being fleshless, Alphonse is unable to take the state alchemist exams with his brother, and thus have to live off Edward.
Wholesome Alphonse is hot-tempered Edward's voice of reason. Being literally a suit of metal armour, he always gets mistaken to be the Full Metal Alchemist when he and Edward both introduce themselves. He then have the job of calming his seething brother down.

why don't you know when al's birthday is?

The first time that I saw the Al accessory hook I thought that it was Ed when he was younger. Who would of though that when Al got older that he would look like his brother.
